Sarah & Colby’s Rustic Sebago Lake Wedding

Sarah & Colby’s Rustic Sebago Lake Wedding

As you can probably guess from the first photo, this couple is overflowing with quirky personality. And if their wedding photos seem fun and idiosyncratic, they’re nothing compared to the story of how Sarah & Colby met. According to Kate Harris Photography,

“Sarah landed herself on stage of a reggae concert playing the bongo drums while on vacation in Colorado. Colby was in the audience.  After 3 blissful days of romance Sarah returned to Maine, quit her job and drove across country in a Caprice named Moby Dick with her dad (serious props to him!) After a year the job market turned up nothing and she found herself living in Chile, then NYC for grad school, a stint at the Mexican border then Boston where she and Colby once again occupied the same city!

Don’t worry, Colby is no bore either! Born in Montana, he is an outdoorsman to the core. He rode a bike across country where he decided to propose to Sarah and carved her engagement ring out of wood. A biochemist, he specializes in energy and biofuel.”

What a couple!

With such big personalities, Sarah & Colby ironically opted for reserved, rustic decorations, such as simple blue glass table decorations and a single bouquet for the bride, rather than having bouquets for the whole bridal party. They filled-out the rest of their wedding, however, with non-traditional decisions that expressed their quirkiness. For instance, rather than having a rehearsal dinner, they decided to have a costume party in which Colby was Batman and Sarah was Elvira. A pinata made a guest appearance at their reception. Their main dessert consisted of a cupcake array decorated to resemble the periodic table, with the chemical symbols “S” and “C” being reserved for the couple. And during dessert, they showed a homemade movie entitled Sarah & Colby’s Covalent Bonding.

The night was capped off by a dazzling sparkler sendoff for the couple.

We wish Sarah & Colby luck and continued adventures! Thank you to Kate Harris Photography for the fantastic photos!
